About
Heather began performing music theater and jazz at a young age in Palmer, Alaska. After studying General Music and Linguistics on the West Coast and Voice Performance on the East Coast, Heather’s musical repertoire has since expanded to include classical, gospel, pop, choral, metal, folk, and rock. Heather’s interest in teaching was ignited by the observation that music is accessible to all; whether you share a professional interest in Baroque performance techniques or wholeheartedly sing along with the radio, music can empower and connect.
In addition to teaching, Heather works as a vocal soloist and chorister in venues across the South Shore.
Some of Heather’s hobbies include video games, crafts, baking, and running.

COVID-19 Update
As of August 2021, we are currently offering lessons both online and in-studio! In-person trial lessons are $20, and online trial lessons are free of charge.
If any student or household member is ill, please cancel your lesson (or switch to online) as soon as possible. Cancellation due to illness is exempt from the studio’s 24-hour cancellation policy.
Teaching
Heather believes music lessons should be a positive and empowering experience at any level. Learning is focused on breathing, physicality, storytelling, and technique that will last for a lifetime. Whether you are pursuing a career as a musician, perform in school musicals or bands, or just use music as a way to relax in your free time, lessons with Heather will help you grow musically and personally.
Private voice and piano students fall across a range of ages, experience levels, and musical areas of interest. Our studio is committed to holding space for people of all backgrounds and identity. Every effort will be made to support students across social, economic, and health-related challenges to musical study, and we are always open to feedback about equity and inclusion in the studio.
Parents are encouraged to observe lessons at their student’s discretion. Many children aged 5-8 are ready for private lessons, but each child is unique. Children under age 8 should explore music at home or through group instruction. Students of any age may not be ready for lessons. We’ll discuss compatibility and readiness after your introductory lesson, and continue to be in conversation about how lessons are going.

Personalized Study
These are the three most common ways students approach their individual vocal study. We can mix and match, switch between tracks, or stay with one.
Classical Study
We’ll work on sheet music literacy, folk songs, and eventually singing in foreign languages.
Music Theater
We’ll build a well-rounded Audition Binder of music you feel comfortable using for future auditions.
Contemporary Style
We’ll curate a list of pop, rock, and/or folk songs that you love to sing, and apply the technique you've learned to two or three songs each week.
Why Choose Our Studio?
Musical Literacy and Creativity
Musical learning falls on a spectrum between strict technical focus and unstructured creative play. Both of these are very important for the development of musicians, and the focus of our lessons will be thoughtfully designed on this spectrum according to each student’s goals, learning style, and preferences.
Commitment to the Whole Artist
Learning something new can be intimidating. Students often face discouragement, criticism, frustration, stage fright, and waning motivation. At our studio, these elements of musicianship are explored and tackled head-on. Every student is valued for their hard work and for the things that make them unique. Heather is eager to receive messages between lessons with questions and updates from students.
Community-Minded Artistry
When you join our music studio, you’ll be a member of a group of music makers! You and your peers will inspire each other during events like recitals, studio classes, open mic nights, and community performances. Auditioning, recording, and performing skills prepare performers to find their place in the world as singers, pianists, creative people, and team members.
